Pediatric Home Visits in Warsaw – basis of my work
Only the relationship between parents and doctor which is based on trust guarantees effective treatment of the child.
Involvement and responsibility is inextricably connected with careful, detailed interview with parents and patient, focused on current complaints and previous, important health problems.
Every time, when I meet small patients for the first time, I try to holistically take charge of child, not only limit my examination to signs which bother parents.
As a pediatrician, during my home visit, I’m trying to carefully and detailedly explain my recommendation relating to treatment of current diseases and indications for wider diagnosis.
Every patient is different and parents have various expectations. I’m a partner for them. When I set a recommendation I take into consideration medical knowledge and parents opinion about this. Even the best and most accurate prescription won’t be effective if it isn’t accepted and well done by the patients.
When you make an appointment, I do a short interview about the current disease of the child. It helps me to decide do I can help patient or you should look for different specialist or go to the hospital immediately.

Worth mentioning advantages of medical, pediatric home visits are short waiting time for consultation, calm atmosphere during examination, avoiding contact with other ill children and no necessity of going to ambulatory, especially in autumn-winter season.
However, the biggest advantage of private, home visits of pediatrician is the comfort of the child. During consultation at home, the small patient is calmer, because the child is in a well-known, safe place. Under these conditions it is easier to make a good relationship between doctor and patient and parents. Even during the examination, children often smile. While parents and I talk about recommendations, they may play around. All of these features lower stress level associated with examination of ill child.
I have lived and worked in Warsaw for 8 years. In this time, as a pediatrician I’m most related with right bank part of Warsaw (Praga-Południe, Praga Północ, Wawer, Targówek, Wesoła, Rembertów, Bródno) taking pediatric care of ill and healthy children. In the last few years, I also get familiar with lef bank Warsaw (Bielany, Wola, Mokotów, Ursynów, Ursus, Bemowo) where I treat youngest patients with involvement.
